For many years, I’ve kept a little brown journal in which I write down insights and ideas that come to me from the Holy Spirit. Some are sentences directly out of A Course in Miracles which I’ve found helpful, or from Gary Renard’s books, but most are ideas that simply came to me in moments of meditation and prayer.

I find it to be such a useful tool, because after I’ve written it down, I can refer back to it later anytime I need a little boost of inspiration. In The Disappearance of the Universe, Gary’s teachers at one point tell him that repetition is mandatory for learning; that we need to hear spiritual concepts at least a dozen times before they even begin to sink in. This is something I also learned in my study of hypnosis – a hypnotic suggestion must be repeated several times before it will take effect in the unconscious mind of the listener.

Well, we’ve all become deeply hypnotized by the ego’s thought system. Its wrong-minded thoughts have been repeated so many times in our mind that we rarely question them but instead live in a mental prison of our own making. In order to UN-hypnotize ourselves from the ego, we need to learn right-minded thoughts from the Holy Spirit which replace thoughts of the ego. The more often we contemplate these right-minded thoughts, the more deeply they sink into our unconscious mind, undoing the ego permanently.

Towards that end, I’ve personally found it very helpful to refer to my journal whenever I’m caught up in my ego’s web of guilt and fear. I’ve decided to record many of those journal insights here in this blog because they may be helpful to you as well. I’ve found that for me, the most helpful way for me to use these short thoughts is to simply read through a number of them until you find one idea that really resonates and takes you into that state of nothingness, where there is only God. Enjoy…

(In no particular order…)

1. I cannot rely only on myself. Of myself I can do nothing…

2. I don’t know anything in ultimate reality.

3. I do not perceive my own best interests in any situation, including this situation that I appear to be in right now.

4. Nothing here should be taken seriously. If you take anything in the world seriously, it will take you.

5. Be light and playful. Life is just a forgiveness game. It’s no big deal!

6. These things that I desire… have no value. Nothing in the world has any value in and of itself.

7. All I see “out there” is but a meaningless symbol of a meaningless thought that makes no sense.

8. Perfect peace for the entire Sonship is my only purpose.

9. Only infinite patience produces immediate results.

10. I have no needs, for God is my Source and God is Where I always am.

11. Let me recognize that all my problems have already been solved.

12. There is only One of Us here.

13. There is no one out there. There is only the Infinite.

14. Seek not to change the world, for the world is merely an effect.

15. Only what you have not given can be lacking in any situation.

16. I have written the movie script, and all the characters I see are merely acting out their parts for me that I’ve written and directed. I forgive myself for writing such a senseless movie…

17. The only thing that brings peace, joy, pleasure, or happiness… is when I’ve surrendered to God’s Love.

18. I am determined to only see Christ! Nothing else is real!

19. Our gratitude is due Him alone Who made the cause of all sorrow and suffering DISAPPEAR throughout the world. It was literally over long ago!

20. My only goal today is to share the peace of God with my brothers who are symbolic of my Self.

21. As far as sharing these truths… there’s no one out there to share them with. All my brothers are in my mind.

22. What I’m seeing is a mirror. The outer picture is a reflection of an inner thought of separation. Neither the outer picture nor the inner thought are true. Both are false.

23. I cannot do anything to awaken myself. The Holy Spirit will awaken me once my mind is healed. Place all my faith in Him.

24. It’s as if I’m trapped in a virtual reality hologram. It’s as if I got scared that God would punish me for wanting to be separate and so I quickly ran into a virtual reality booth to try and hide. This would be ridiculous enough if my fear was based on truth, but the fact that it was NOT makes it tragically ridiculous! All I have to do is realize how silly my fear of God is and always has been and step out of the booth! God’s Love is waiting to embrace me and give me everything I’ve ever wanted!

25. Don’t expect the Holy Spirit or Jesus to give you guidance on how to get what you want in this world. It’s this expectation that causes us to confuse ego thoughts with thoughts of Love and thus experience so much doubt, confusion, and fear. The Holy Spirit is not interested in your worldly success, but only in your spiritual success.

26. It’s a trick of the ego when I get sucked into a tough decision and I’m asking, “What should I do?” This is always the wrong question. We get so caught up in the game of weighing the pros and cons of each decision, that we forget there is no hierarchy of illusions. They are all meaningless. To the Holy Spirit, there are no worldly outcomes that are “better” or “worse” than any others. They are all neutral, and there usefulness depends only on whose purpose you use them for. The only answer to any question of what to do is this: forgive.

More to come later…
